Bot banning

Accurate analytics means human-only analytics. We’ve been blocking bots from your dashboard since day one, and we take it seriously. If a bot inflates your numbers, your data is lying to you.
Today we’re rolling out a significant new layer of bot detection. Our system now classifies incoming traffic across multiple dimensions before it ever touches your dashboard, catching bots that would slip past simpler detection methods. Traffic that’s identified as non-human is separated out at the point of ingestion, so it never pollutes your pageview or event data.
You can now see exactly how many bots we’re blocking and why. On your dashboard, you’ll notice a bot icon next to the export and filter buttons. Click it to see a breakdown of blocked requests, including the classification reason and which countries the bot traffic is coming from.
This is an area we’ll continue to invest in. Bot traffic evolves constantly, and so does our detection. Your job is to make decisions based on your data and our job is to make sure that data is clean.
